ChatGPT may have convinced IT companies to retrench staff in droves. But imagine an entire class turning in identical answer papers to assignments. Or researchers across borders coming up with identical research statements and results . Churning out the same response even if based on updated data. Humans would need to be hired in substantial numbers to make sense of ChatGPT prompted responses , to discern fashion trends, individuality, innovation and dissenting views to spur intellectual debate. The human discerning eye is not there.The cleverness is in producing instant streams of lengthy answers which remain largely unsubstantiated till dozens of research articles and data have been analysed and authenticated.While ChatGPT articulates facts it may be deceptively simple.Would one trust a surgeon in an operation theatre who is taking cues from ChatGPT on his tab ? The game is not over yet but the companies listings at the bourses have hit the roof
