Turkish Drone Technology

The Turkish Navy commissioned an amphibious carrier called TCG Anadolu which is basically a vessel for sea based operations for Turkey’s armed drones which have advanced technology. Initially designed for F-35B which was primarily a short takeoff / vertical aircraft . The ships length is 231 meters with a range of 9,000 nautical miles.  Turkish technology has confounded Western manufacturers of drones.

The warship is the world’s first unmanned combat aerial vehicle carrier and Turkiye is rightly proud to be one of the few nations to build an aircraft carrier at an estimated cost of $ 1 billion. Its electronic warfare, infrared search and track, electro-optical search, laser warning, torpedo defence systems and radars are indigenously manufactured. Its range is 9000 nautical miles which is indicative of Turkiye’s ambitions of becoming a blue water navy.

The Anadolu can carry 30 armed drones with a 600-pound maximum payload which is a great improvement over its previous models. The Turkish aerospace firm Bayraktar’s newest version of its unmanned armed drone aircraft is Kizilelma which can engage with manned fighters and this afterburning variant can take off from Anadolu’s short flight deck and ski jump.
